Thermoforming is a manufacturing process in which a plastic sheet, such as Polystyrene (HIPs), Polypropylene, or other similar plastics, is heated and softened to a temperature where it becomes pliable and mouldable. It is then moved to the forming station where, by a process of vacuum and air pressure, it is then pulled down over a mould of whatever desired shape.
Many different objects can be manufactured this way, from disposable cups and containers to key fobs and vehicle parts. Some building materials are also manufactured this way.
